Green Key certified since 2019
Color Hotel Skagen has been Green Key certified since 2019. This means that we meet Green Key’s criteria in areas including energy, water, waste, cleaning and food.
Our environmental efforts are part of the hotel’s day-to-day operations. We continuously work with our energy and water consumption, waste sorting, food waste and other specific areas where we can make improvements to our operations.

How we work
Skagen's nature is an important part of the place where we operate our hotel. That is why we continuously work to reduce our resource consumption and implement practical initiatives in our day-to-day operations.
As a Green Key certified hotel, we focus on:
reducing energy and water consumption
waste sorting and reducing waste
initiatives to reduce food waste
environmentally certified cleaning products
continuous improvements as part of the hotel's renovation and development
What we do in practice
Our environmental efforts include a number of specific initiatives in our daily operations and in the ongoing development of the hotel:
Energy-efficient installations in areas including the kitchen, refrigeration systems and staff facilities.
Solar panels on the roofs of our new guest room buildings in Lynghaven.
LED lighting and systems for managing energy consumption in the lobby and corridors.
Environmentally certified cleaning products.
Waste sorting throughout the hotel.
A focus on reducing food waste in both purchasing and food preparation.
Selected organic ingredients and locally sourced ingredients when season and availability allow.
Bicycle rental for guests and suggestions for cycling and walking routes starting from the hotel.
Digital solutions where they can replace unnecessary use of paper.
