Experience Skagen

Stay at Skagen's biggest hotel and experience everything Skagen has to offer

Skagen is the perfect place to enjoy life. There is room for both relaxation and feeling the rush of greatness.

You can visit Skagens Museum, where artists from all over the world inspired each other and see the pieces, which created a ground-breaking chapter in our art history. And with Ancher, Krøyer and Drachmann fresh in your mind – you can step right into their scene: Skagen – the life and of course the light!

Small boutiques offer world-class shopping whether you´re after unique arts and crafts, exclusive fashion or local ingredients.
In the city center and at the harbor there are a large number of small cafés and restaurants, where you can enjoy a local meal, a refreshment, the buzzing in the city or just being there.

Be intoxicated by Skagens versatile and special nature. According to the season you can enjoy the wild rumbling or the soft and alluring waves of Skagerrak and Kattegat, when they meet at the tip of “Grenen”.

And while you stand there looking at the blue horizon, you might be lucky to see the majestic warriors of the sky. “Grenen” is the preferred route in Northern Europe among falcons and eagles.

  • Vippefyret

An exact replica of the first vippefyr with an open basket in Denmark, made in Skagen in 1627. Vippefyret was made to lead the ships away from Grenen and the dangerous reef. It works by lighting up the basket, and tilting it up, so it is visible from far away. Vippefyret is lid up every year at Sankt Hans. Vippefyret is about a 15 minutes´ drive from the hotel.
  • Råbjerg Mile

Råbjerg Mile is the largest dune in Denmark which covers an area of approximately 2 square kilometers. On top of the dune you have an amazing view of the dune landscape. Råbjerg Mile is about a 15 minutes’ drive from the hotel.
  • The Sand-Buried Church

The church was the biggest in Vendsyssel in the 1300s, but the sand drift reached the church in the end of the 1700s.

In the beginning the congregation dug through the sand to have their service, but in the end they had to realize that the powers of nature were too strong. Today there is only the church tower left. The Sand-Buried Church is about 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel.
